What we Believe...

We believe God created humans perfect and free to make choices. Humans chose to disobey their Creator. Turning away from God, humanity fell into sin. All of the suffering and evil in the world is because of this sin.

Even though we have turned away from God, God still loves all people and wants to restore creation to its intended state of joy, peace, and perfect relationships. Right from the beginning, God had a plan to make this happen.

God's plan was to send Jesus, who lived a life of perfect obedience to God and who died to pay the price for all people's sins. God raised Jesus back to life. He is in heaven now, but he has promised to return to earth someday. When he comes again, he will resurrect all Christians from the dead and take them to be with him in heaven.

Christians are people who accept that Jesus Christ is God's Son, who believe that Jesus died for their sins and rose from the dead, and who do their best to follow his teachings and example. Together they form the church, which is called Christ's body on earth, and which has a responsibility to continue Christ's work.

Living the Christian life is not always easy, but believers receive guidance from the Bible and from the teachings and example of Christ; and they receive encouragement and power from God's Holy Spirit.

What we believe matters...

What we believe is more than just statements about God that we can agree with. What we believe transforms our hearts. What we believe shapes our lives. What we believe deeply affects our relationships.

At Community, we humbly stand in the long tradition of Christians who have built their beliefs upon the foundation of God's Word as revealed to us in the Bible, the ongoing work of the Holy Spirit, and the person and work of Jesus Christ.

The Bible describes a day when the knowledge of God will cover the earth like the waters cover the sea. On that day, all mysteries of God will be made clear. Until then, we will journey together with Jesus as our example, the Bible as our path, and the Holy Spirit as our guide.

About Us
The Apostle's Creed...

The Apostle's Creed is one of the oldest expressions of the Christian faith. It gives a helpful summary of the beliefs of the historic Christian church.

I believe in God, the Father almighty,
. . . .Maker of heaven and earth;

And in Jesus Christ, His only begotten Son, our Lord;
. . . .who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
. . . .born of the Virgin Mary,
. . . .suffered under Pontius Pilate,
. . . .was crucified, dead, and buried.
. . . .He descended into hell.
. . . .The third day He rose again from the dead.
. . . .He ascended into heaven,
. . . .and is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty.
. . . .From there He shall come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,
. . . .the holy catholic Church*,
. . . .the communion of saints,
. . . .the forgiveness of sins,
. . . .the resurrection of the body,
. . . .and the life everlasting. Amen.

* The word "catholic" refers not to the Roman Catholic Church, but to the universal church of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Core Values...
Empowerment: We believe that God wants to work in you. If God has His hand in your life, we believe that God knows better than we do and we will trust the Holy Spirit to lead and guide you. Our job is to come along side and be a part of what God is already doing.

Authenticity:  Before “excellence,” before “professional” and before “polished” we believe that authenticity is most important in our lives. It is better to be real and honest, even when it makes us look ‘bad’ than it is to put on a front. We do not want ministries or lives to be sloppy, but it is authenticity that will drive us, not perfection.

Reproduction:  The purpose of an apple tree is not simply to produce apples, nor another apple tree, but an orchard of fruit bearing apple trees. We believe that Christians are to seek to establish intentional relationships with others, hoping to earn the right to be heard. But reproduction does not end with a new Christian commitment; our goal is to bring people to Christ so that they will bring people to Christ (2 Tim. 2:2).

Transformation: We believe that no matter who you are or what you’ve done you need God. We also believe that deep in your soul you want God. When God gets a hold on any of us, our lives will change: sometimes dramatically, sometimes subtly. No matter how God has grabbed us, we are usable by God to do powerful and amazing things. (John 4)

Faith is a Journey (Luke 24- Emmaus Road):  While there are examples in our lives of conversions like Paul (all at once, a life is changed) we believe that faith is a journey. We will stumble, grow, misunderstand, fail and succeed. Sometimes we will be faithful and sometimes we will falter but all of these experiences are used by God to make us more, authentic, reproducible, transformed and self-less. No one is a “good Christian” we are all Christians or not, and God is working to complete the good work that He has already begun in us (Phil 1:6).

Less - Self:  We believe that we are to look not only to our own needs but also to the needs of others. Our leadership, our ministries, our missions and even our people will grow more and more into the people God wants us to be by continually looking for how we might “prefer the other” over ourselves. We believe that if our church and our people are defined by showing preference to other churches, ministries and people, God will be glorified and our ultimate goal is to give glory to God. and example of Christ; and they receive encouragement and power from God's Holy Spirit.
